Watco Teak Oil is specially crafted to offer an exceptional UV and moisture-resistant finish, ideal for dense woods like teak, rosewood, or mahogany. It deeply penetrates wood pores, evoking the luxurious, warm glow of a hand-rubbed finish. This product shields wood from within and boasts durability—it won't chip, peel, or wear away easily. Suitable for treating both outdoor and indoor furniture, as well as marine surfaces (above the waterline), including wood boat decks, cabinets, and rails.

Instructions to Apply WATCO Teak Oil

Previously Finished Surface: For optimal outcomes, ensure that surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, dry, and devoid of any old finishes, dust, dirt, oils, or foreign substances. If the old finishes are in poor condition, they must be entirely removed. Sand the surface to achieve a smooth finish, and then eliminate any sanding dust using either a vacuum or a cloth dampened with mineral spirits.

Finished Surface: Sand the surface using 150-220 grit sandpaper and ensure complete removal of all sanding dust. You can achieve this by using a rag dampened with mineral spirits or a vacuum cleaner. If a filler or putty is applied, ensure it does not contain wax and allow ample time for it to dry thoroughly.

Application Tips: To safeguard surrounding areas from potential drips or spills, cover them with a solvent-resistant drop cloth overlaid with newspaper. Ensure personal protection by wearing safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves to shield the eyes and skin. Maintain adequate ventilation throughout the application process.

Apply Watco Teak Oil only when both the air and surface temperatures are above 55°F and below 90°F. Keep in mind that slower dry times may occur when applying to woods with high tannin and oil content, such as redwood or cedar, or during periods of high humidity and/or low temperatures. Avoid thinning the product.

Before completing the project, perform a color test of Watco Teak Oil in an inconspicuous area to ensure it meets your desired outcome.

Application (Rag or Brush):Thoroughly shake, stir, or invert the can several times both before and during use to ensure proper mixing. Apply Watco Teak Oil generously with a brush, lint-free cloth, roller, or spray, flooding the surface with a heavy application. Pay extra attention to areas that absorb all the liquid. Allow the finish to dry for a minimum of 30 minutes before recoating. Keep in mind that lower temperatures and/or higher humidity may result in slower dry times.

Apply additional coats every 15 minutes as needed. After the final coat, wipe the surface thoroughly with a clean, lint-free cloth to remove any excess oil. Allow the finish to dry for 8-10 hours before subjecting it to light use.
