Well, you should pay attention to the exhaust pipes also, as these are designed to guide harmful gases away from the engine and hence, they can get grungy and worn easily. Following is a complete application to paint exhaust pipes with Rust-Oleum high heat, take a look!!

First and Foremost:

Before you start to spray paint, find a suitable place to complete the task. A place with excellent ventilation and a dust-free environment is good for completing your project effectively. Once you find a suitable place, simply spread out a drop cloth to protect it from spray paint.

Gather all the material you will need to do the job. Below mentioned are the things that you will require to complete this task, take a look.

  • Painter’s Tape
  • Masking Paper
  • Lint-Free Cloth
  • Latex Gloves
  • Drop Cloth
  • Rust-Oleum Wax & Tar Remover
  • Rust-Oleum High Heat Primer
  • Rust-Oleum High Heat Spray Paint

Prepare:

No matter what type of painting you are going to do, preparing the vehicle is essential to get the optimum results. To do the needful, first clean the exhaust pipe of your car using a liberal coat of Rust-Oleum Wax and Tar Remover over the entire are and then leave it for one minute. Afterward, use a lint-free cloth to wipe it away. Once the pipe is clean, use painter’s tape and masking paper to mask off the surrounding parts of the car that you don’t want to paint. 

Prime the Exhaust Pipe:

Primer ensures excellent adhesion of paint on the surface and offers better protection to the surface being painted. To prime, the exhaust, shake the spray-cane of Rust-Oleum High Heat Primer for one minute and make sure that the mixing ball starts to rattle. In case mixing ball fails to rattle, “Do not strike spray-can and contact Rust-Oleum.” Hold the spray-cane 8-12” away from the exhaust pipe and spray in a steady motion. Apply 2-3 light coats with a few minutes of gap between each coat. Let the primer dry for one hour. 

Paint the Exhaust Pipe:

As the primer is completely dry now, you can start spraying paint on the exhaust pipe. For applying it effectively, use the same technique that you did for the primer. Shake the spray-cane of Rust-Oleum High Heat Spray Paint for one minute and make sure that the mixing ball starts to rattle. Apply 2-3 light coats with a few minutes apart. Then, let the paint dry for 1-2 hours before moving on to the curing process.

Cure:

Follow the direction of the High Heat Spray’s technical sheet for completing the curing process. And once the painted exhaust pipe is completely cured, it’s ready for use.
